Projekt v sodelovanju z Made in China in Zavetiščem za zavržene rastline.

You are cordially invited to attend the Mother’s Day opening of the exhibition at GalerijaGallery on Thursday, 25 March 2021, from 5 pm. It’s your chance to become a lucky owner of a piece of nature and art. We’re offering the first generation of 20 Mother (E)Art(H) plant multiples for the special opening-day price of EUR 60.

Zora, Marjetica, Metka, Marko, Branko, Oto, Avgust, Roman, Alenka, Tone, Ervin, Karla, Rihard, Uršula, Aleksij, Ivana, Adriana, Duba, Sergej and Boštjan can’t wait to meet you.

The Abandoned Plants Sanctuary first came to the aid of GalerijaGallery in the spring of 2016. It also notably offered help to the Zelenica (Lawn), which was going through a rough patch and was waiting for its gallery days to end and be reborn, in a more fragmented form, in its natural environment. We heard the call of the mighty Mother lyrata fig tree and its wish to have its 20 saplings go to only the best families.

Every mother has mixed feelings about her children leaving the safety of the nest and venturing out into the world. The fiddle-leaf fig is no exception. This special day heralds a new era, a new page in the plant’s book of life, made all the more special by the fact that it’s sending the first generation of its young into the world.
Twenty elegant lyrata fig tree cuttings grew their roots between October 2020 and March 2021. The lively autumn-spring generation is setting off into the world on a very special day, a day dedicated to expressing love and respect for mothers.

While the Mother is looking forward to the independence of her progeny, her veins are filled with the juice of questions. What will the homes of her little ones look like, will they have a constant room temperature, will their owners remember to water them every few days, and will they get enough light? And God help us if there’s a draft!

"But what really happens when a plant is no longer one and its offspring is born? Little children? Does it really love them, care for them, miss them when they are no longer close by? Is there really something that connects plants beyond what people see and know? Can trees really talk, even when they are not featured in a fable? Do plants really love music? Can plants feel? Can plants love? Can flowers love even though they do not have a heart?

Can Mother Art really love her children, even though she is a flower and she has no heart? People have a heart. Flowers do not have a heart. "

Why not become one of the caring owners of the cute fig trees and make sure the Mother plant can sleep easy knowing you’ll take good care of her babies? Let her breathe a sigh of relief and proudly send off her younglings into the world. Celebrate this special day with us! And don’t worry if you’re busy this Mother’s Day; adoption dates are scheduled for almost the entire month – up to another important date, Earth Day on 22 April.

We’ll be working together with Made in Chine to make sure it’s extra special. So, why not drop by at GalerijaGallery at Trg Prekomorskih brigad 1 in Ljubljana and adopt a plant? Make sure to reserve your visit at zavrzene.rastline@gmail.com. We’ll send you detailed instructions about the exclusive adoption process and the day when you can pick up your plant.
